"'What are so worried about? Just enjoy the music' This is the message I get from Lord Krishna when I see his picture or idol smiling benignly and playing the flute," says singer-anchor Raageshwari Loomba. A big Krishna devotee, Raageshwari says that the Lord fits her bill of the 'perfect man'. On the occasion of Janmashtami, she talks to CS about the Lord and his philosophy:

Oh, My Lord
Krishna for me is synonymous with music, romance and meditation. As a child, I used to hear stories of him from my dad. I loved the maakhan chor antics of the Lord, where he broke matkas to steal butter and distribute it among his poor friends. He gave us a lesson in equality and generosity. Also, I love his philosophy that tells us to work hard, but not to expect fruits for the same. In fact, I think he's an embodiment of the perfect man. Who can forget the tales of Radha-Krishna or of Meerabai's unconditional love for the Lord? You see, most girls my age worship Lord Shiva as he epitomises the ideal husband. But I find Lord Krishna more alluring as he is a complete romantic at heart. He was a very compassionate and liberated man.u00a0u00a0u00a0

It's celebration time
Today, we make the traditional prasad at home where all the fruits are roasted with sugar, jeera and dhania. It's sweet, but also a little pungent. The lunch menu will have puris, aaloo sabzi, chana, pulao and lots of dahi. I decorate Lord Krishna's little jhula (cradle) with flowers. The pooja mandir is also decked up with flowers and diyas. We take turns to rock the cradle. Krishna bhajans are played in the house. I love the Gujarati-Farsi (Iranian) bhajan Eji Dhan Dhan Aaj No Daaddlore Ame Harivar Paayaa Ji, which I have included in my upcoming album. I also love the songu00a0 Bada Natkhat Hai Re Kishan Kanhaiyya.u00a0

The artful lover
We all know that Krishna is the most painted God in the world. His imagery of a blue-skinned God playing the flute has captured the imagination of artists the world over. I know one Rajasthani painter who draws Krishna on water. Most of the bandishes in classical music have their roots in Krishna bhajans. Raag Yaman and Kafi are also connected with Krishna. I am big fan of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia whose personality matches Lord Krishna's to the teeu00a0-- both lost in their own world, and loved by women!
