Swara Bhasker continues to receive flak for an open letter she wrote, criticising the portrayal of women in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. While she said she felt "reduced to a vagina" by the end of the movie, leading lady Deepika Padukone says Bhasker should have taken into consideration the era in which the film was set.
She also mocked the Anaarkali Of Aarah (2017) actor, saying that she probably went to buy popcorn and missed the disclaimer at the beginning of the movie. Meanwhile, Taapsee Pannu says she doesn't agree with Bhasker's opinion on Padmaavat. "Everyone has a right to opinion. I, however, don't agree with Swara. Just because we both are feminists doesn't mean we have the same take (sic)."
