With no big releases last week, it would have been a dull weekend at the ticket counters, but the Remo D'Souza dance drama 'ABCD 2' kept the coffers steadily ringing. Into its second week, the Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer managed to register a consistent growth, collecting almost as much as it did in its first weekend — Rs 42.56 — and is inching closer to the Rs 100-crore mark.

Trade analyst Amod Mehra says, "Both 'Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho' and 'Uvaa', which released last week, have bombed miserably at the box office. 'ABCD 2', on the other hand, continued to do well. Hollywood definitely seems to be giving a tough fight to Bollywood. 'Jurassic World' also did phenomenal business and 'Inside Out' has done reasonably well, luring mostly youngsters to the theatres." He makes a special mention of Marathi film Killa, stating that it did "exceedingly well".
Trade expert Taran Adarsh terms last weekend as "not too good" due to the absence of a big film. "'ABCD 2' has recorded highest week one collections of 2015 by overtaking 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns'. 'Miss Tanakpur...', on the other hand, is also doing steady business, thanks to its word-of-mouth publicity," he adds.
