From Waste to Wow!

Award-winning artist Nandita Desai, celebrated for her poignant paintings that beautifully capture the essence of old Maharashtra homes, is all set to embark on a new artistic journey with the showcase of her unique collection of industrial jewellery. Desai's collection is a powerful testament to the idea that beauty and innovation can emerge even from forgotten sources such as scrap materials from old computer parts, workshops, metal workers, factories, brass, bronze, steel pieces, wires, plumbing parts, discs, building materials and beyond.

Every piece of jewellery is meticulously handcrafted and hand-painted by Desai, ensuring a bespoke and unique touch to each creation. Her jewellery, that can be worn with both Indian and international garments and silhouettes, serves as an inspirational reminder to our youth, urging them to view leftover byproducts through a fresh lens and upcycle to reduce carbon footprint.

“Making jewellery is a natural diversion of my love for mixed media art. My forte is painting old homes in and around Mumbai in my own inimitable style! My pieces, mostly necklaces, are at once individualistic, artistic, and very wearable. They make a style statement and also imbibe the wearer with a sense of responsibility to the waste we create through our industries,” expresses Desai.

In addition to this, the ace artist will also display an array of minimalistic necklaces, chokers, headbands and anklets for teens as well as a captivating range of mixed creative jewellery using elements like stone, stained glass, wood, jute, gold, silver, nano gems, tiles, barks, leaves, et al!

Yours is to check out this unique exhibition that lies at the intersection of art, fashion, and environmental consciousness.
