Think big but start small, this has always been Dipanshu Sharma’s motto in life. The dynamic actor who started by doing theatre in Delhi is now the most talented actor in America.
He is a first-generation actor who packed his bags from Delhi and booked a one-way ticket to Los Angeles. He did not have contacts, family wealth, or any experience of American winters–but he survived and succeeded despite everything.

You have seen him in a number of films including That Winning Feeling, directed by Luc Mariscotti, where he played the character of a chess player who was dealing with obsessive-compulsive disorder. In Baking 101, the bilingual actor played a South Asian gay character portraying the mental pressure of coming out of the closet. In RomeAntic, shot in Rome he portrays the challenges of mental health problems and substance abuse.
Dipanshu Sharma chose tough roles and paved his way in showbiz. He considers himself a global entertainer. He got his training from the Lee Strasberg Institute, Los Angeles and earlier from India’s finest institute National School of Drama in Delhi.
Not just acting, the entertainer has also forayed into production. He runs his own production house, Cusp Motion Pictures Pvt.Ltd–where he is developing his first of many feature films, which is a gritty murder tale based on true events.
Today, When Dipanshu Sharma looks back at his eventful work trajectory he feels, “My journey has not been an easy one and I had to work hard for everything in life. There are no free lunches. I could navigate through this tough path as I had clarity of thoughts and direction and yes, a supportive bunch of people.”
When asked what next? The best Indian american actor said, “I’m on an undisputable mission to increase diversity and put Asian actors at the forefront of the global artistic community.”
One piece of advice for aspiring actors? “We only get to live this life once and I don’t want to wake up one day and realise that I have missed out on most of it because I was busy working. Work hard, but also know when to rest and take time off!” and the entertainer signed off.
