Houthis strike US navy ships in Red Sea amid rising tensions - Watch video

Yemen`s Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, claimed responsibility on Monday, 17th March, for attacking a U.S. aircraft carrier group twice in less than 24 hours. The attacks were said to be retaliation for U.S. strikes on their positions. In a televised statement on March 18, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea alleged that the group launched a third attack on the USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea, though he provided no evidence. He also mentioned targeting a U.S. destroyer and warned that the Houthis would continue attacking U.S. and allied ships in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea until what they called "aggression" against Yemen stopped. Meanwhile, The U.S. has pledged to continue airstrikes against Houthi forces. President Donald Trump warned that America would use “overwhelming lethal force” if the attacks on shipping continue. Since November 2023, the Houthis have repeatedly targeted Israel and international shipping as part of their support for Palestinians during the Israel-Hamas conflict. This has prompted retaliatory airstrikes from the U.S., Britain, and Israel. Watch video for more details.... [Read More]

In total, Palestinian health officials stated that at least 100 people had died in the recent strikes. Ambulances raced through the streets as emergency services responded to the damage. Hamas accused Israel of breaking the ceasefire agreement, while Israel`s military provided no details but stated that the operations were part of a broader strategy against Hamas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed that the military had been ordered to take "strong action" against Hamas. The attacks, which involved more than just airstrikes, marked a major escalation following weeks of failed ceasefire talks. The fate of 59 hostages held in Gaza remains uncertain, as the violence continues.... [Read More]
