The Kenyan got into a fight with Ethiopia's Gudaf Tsegay when nearly 800m distance was left. Kipyeon pushed the Ethiopian athlete while stretching the arm

Following the incident, the Kenyan was penalized as pushing is considered as obstructing the opponent's field. According to the rules, the reason behind disqualification was an obstruction on the field

Faith Kipyegon finished the race in 14:30.61. Kenya's Beatrice Chebet finished it in 14:28.56 winning the gold medal

Kipyegon was celebrating her medal victory before getting disqualified

Later, when Faith Kipyeon appealed against the decision it was accepted and eventually she was awarded the silver medal

Ethiopian-Dutch Sifan Hassan won the bronze medal in the women's 5000m final race at the Paris Olympics 2024
