Tests: Team India's lowest totals at home

IND vs NZ, Bengaluru, 2024

Beginning with an abandoned first day due to rain, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bat first after winning the toss. Opening the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit returned to the pavilion on just two runs. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and other batsmen were unable to open their accounts in the match. It was Rishabh Pant and Jaiswal's innings riding on which India reached the score of 46 runs. Pant played a knock of 20 runs which was the highest from this innings and Jaiswal managed to score 13 runs

IND vs WI, Delhi, 1987

India's second-lowest total came against the West Indies during the Delhi Test match in 1987. Having elected to bat first, the Indian innings was wrapped up on the score of 75 runs. Captain Dilip Vengsarkar and Kiran More registered scores of 10 and 12 runs, respectively. Arun Lal was the highest run-scorer for India in that innings. Facing 44 deliveries, Lal scored 20 runs including 3 fours

IND vs SA, Ahmedabad, 2008

In the Ahmedabad Test match against South Africa, India saw their third-lowest score at home getting registered. Batting first, India kept losing wickets at regular intervals, MS Dhoni and Irfan Pathan were the only two batsmen with double figures under their names. Dhoni accumulated 14 runs, followed by Irfan who smashed 21 runs. Riding on their scores, Anil Kumble-led India was bowled out on 76 runs

IND vs NZ, Mohali, 1999

Having lost the toss, India was put to bat first in the match. With Javagal Srinath, MSK Prasad and Sachin Tendulkar finding their way to help the side reach a respectable total, India was bowled out for 83 runs. Srinath scored 20 runs, Prasad and Tendulkar departed on the scores of 16 and 18 runs, respectively

IND vs NZ, Mumbai (Brabourne Stadium), 1965

In the match against New Zealand at the Brabourne Stadium, India registered their fifth-lowest Test total at home. After bowling out the Kiwis on 297 runs, India's innings was wrapped up at 88 runs. Chandu Borde and Farokh Engineer scored 25 and 17 runs, respectively, following which the side managed to reach 88 runs
