KL Rahul who filled in the shoes in Rohit Sharma's absence for the top slot made the most of the opportunity provided
Opening the innings in the first essay, KL Rahul departed for 26 runs after facing 74 deliveries. His knock was laced with 3 fours. Later in the second innings, the right-hander showcased a knock of patience and grittiness. Facing 176 balls, he smashed 77 runs including 5 fours
Ahead of the second Test, the return of skipper and opening batsman Rohit Sharma will keep Rahul's position hanging
Additionally, Shubman Gill who missed out on the first Test match due to injury will also expectedly feature in the second match
If Gill comes at number three and Rahul bats at the top, then Rohit's position in India's batting lineup will go down to number four or five
