The much-awaited ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is just a few months away. India is set to host the prestigious tournament across 10 venues. 1. Sachin Tendulkar - India

This is just one of the several crucial records that legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar holds. He is the highest ICC World Cup run-scorer with 2278 runs. He also has six centuries and 15 half centuries to his name. He was a part of the 2011 Indian World Cup winning team, which was also the last edition of the tournament that Tendulkar featured in.

2. Ricky Ponting – Australia

Australian great Ricky Ponting comes next on the list with 1743 runs. He smashed five hundreds and six fifties throughout his World Cup career.  Not only did he contribute significantly to Australia’s batting display, but also led the team to two consecutive World Cup victories – 2003 and 2007.

3. Kumar Sangakkara – Sri Lanka

Throughout his World Cup career, Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara scored 1532 runs, including five centuries and seven half-centuries. In the 2015 World Cup, which was also his last, he became the first player in history to hit four consecutive centuries in a single edition of the ODI World Cup.

4. Brian Lara – West Indies

5. AB de Villiers – South Africa

AB de Villiers has 1207 World Cup runs to his name, his highest score being 162*. He holds the record of fastest ODI 150, a feat he achieved in just 65 deliveries vs West Indies in the 2015 World Cup. In the three editions of ICC ODI World Cup that he was a part of, de Villiers smashed four centuries and six half-centuries.
