After whitewashing the T20I series against Afghanistan, Team India will lock horns with England for the five-match Test series. The much-anticipated test series between the teams will kick start on January 25. The Indian Cricket Board announced the squad for the first two test matches. Here is the list of players who failed to make the cut

Ishan Kishan

India's wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has not been picked for the England test series. The left-hander was part of the Indian squad for the South Africa tests but he opted out due to personal reasons. He was not even included in the squad during the series against Afghanistan

Cheteshwar Pujara

India's test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara has not been named for the test series against England. The veteran was not part of the Indian squad during the two-match test series against South Africa

Ajinkya Rahane

Even Ajinkya Rahane is not included in the Indian side at least for the first two test matches against England. Along with Pujara, even Rahane did not play in the tests against South Africa

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur failed to make cut in the Indian side for the home test series against England. Being an all-rounder he provides the option of batting in the lower-middle order. Thakur has the capability to play long innings
