On the first day of the third test match against England, India's skipper Rohit Sharma played a vital knock. He accumulated 131 runs in 196 deliveries including 14 fours and 3 sixes. His masterful innings came to an end when he lost his wicket in the hands of English skipper Ben Stokes
With this, Rohit Sharma has now equalled the record of Chris Gayle for the most number of international centuries by an opening batsman
Former West Indies opening batsman Chris Gayle has 42 international centuries registered under his name. The star left-hander ended his career with 7,214 test runs, 10,480 ODI runs and 1,899 runs in the shortest format of the game
With a ton against England in the third test, skipper Rohit Sharma has now completed 42 international centuries as an opening batsman for India
Topping the list of most international centuries by opening batsmen is Australia's David Warner with 49 tons to his name. Followed by, legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar with 45 centuries
