5. West Indies vs Bangladesh, 2021

This is the most recent run chase in the list. Kyle Mayers proved to be a star for West Indies as his double century propelled the team towards achieving the 395-run target set by Bangladesh.

4. Australia vs England, 1948

3. India vs West Indies, 1976

India’s highest run chase in Test history came way back in 1976 when the team successfully chased 406 runs. Centuries by Sunil Gavaskar and Gundappa Viswanath helped India win the match.

2. South Africa vs Australia, 2008

The second highest successful run chase came when South Africa played Australia in Perth. South Africa had to chase a target of 414. Graeme Smith and AB de Villiers’ centuries and Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis’ half-centuries led South Africa to victory.

1. West Indies vs Australia, 2003

The Aussies set a daunting 418-run target for West Indies to win. In response, West Indies displayed an exemplary performance in what is considered the greatest chase in Test history. Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul smashed superb centuries to lead their team to victory.
