Martin Guptill impressed everyone with his batting exploits in New Zealand's 2015 World Cup campaign and a lot was expected off him in the 2019 World Cup, but he could not deliver. In 10 matches that he played, he scored 188 runs at an average of 17.09. (Pic/ Martin Guptill Instagram)

In an inexperienced South Africa team, which was without AB de Villiers, the onus was on Quinton de Kock to play the match-winning innings for his team. He, however, scored only 305 runs at an average of 38.12. (Pic/ Quinton de Kock Instagram)

Bangladesh were a competitive side throughout the World Cup 2019 but fizzled out towards the end of the league stage. The sub-continent side missed the big innings of their talisman batsman Tamim Iqbal who only managed 231 runs at an average of 28. (Pic/ Tamim Iqbal Instagram)

Glenn Maxwell was one of the biggest reasons that Australia triumphed in the 2015 World Cup, but in the 2019 edition, the dashing batsman could not make much of an impact. He scored only 177 runs at an average of 22.12. (Pic/ Glenn Maxwell Instagram)

Andre Russell was the most feared all-rounder in the world while heading into the 2019 World Cup. He single-handedly won Kolkata Knight Riders' games in the IPL 2019. But he could not match up to the high standards he had set. Russell scored only 36 runs and took 5 wickets in the World Cup 2019 before he was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. (Pic/ Andre Russel Instagram)

Pakistan were counting on their most experienced player Shoaib Malik to anchor the ship in the middle-order for the team during crunch situations. But Shoaib Malik had a horror World Cup, he scored just 8 runs in 3 matches which included two ducks before he was dropped for the rest of the tournament. Malik later retired from ODI cricket once Pakistan were knocked out of the mega event. (Pic/ Shoaib Malik Instagram)

Vijay Shankar was known as India's 3-D man while heading into the World Cup. He was supposed to hit big, take wickets and stop runs while fielding in crucial positions. Shankar however, failed to live up to the expectations, he scored just 58 runs and took only 2 wickets before Bumrah sent him back home with a toe-crusher in the nets. (Pic/ Vijay Shankar Instagram)

Marcus Stoinis was Australia's No. 1 all-rounder in the World Cup, but he failed to deliver big-time, scoring only 83 runs and taking 7 wickets in the tournament. (Pic/ Marcus Stoinis Instagram)

Rashid Khan has been blowing hot in the past couple of years with his unbelievable bowling in the IPL and other tournaments since the past couple of years. But in the World Cup 2019, when it mattered the most, he failed. Rashid Khan took only 7 wickets throughout the tournament, none of them being match-winning wickets. (Pic/ Rashid Khan Instagram)

Kagiso Rabada has been touted as one of the best fast bowlers of the current generation along with Jasprit Bumrah. But the South African failed to exploit England's swinging pitches to put in match-winning performances for his team. Rabada managed to usurp only 11 wickets during the course of the tournament, while he was expected to be among the top wicket-takers of the 2019 World Cup. (Pic/ Kagiso Rabada Instagram)

Kuldeep Yadav has been unstoppable for India in the last two years. He has been Virat Kohli's go-to man whenever India needed crucial wickets. However, Yadav took only 6 wickets in 7 matches and was dropped in the final few matches of India's campaign. (Pic/ Kuldeep Yadav Instagram)

Kedar Jadhav can be the 12th man of the mis-hit team as he scored only 80 runs in 6 matches in the World Cup 2019. Jadhav was also criticised for slow-batting and not showing enough urgency while batting with Dhoni in the middle overs. (Pic/ Kedar Jadhav Instagram)
