Dew will be a huge factor for India and West Indies in the Twenty20 leg of the tour which kicks off at Eden Gardens on Wednesday. Curator Sujan Mukherjee, at pains to explain that the dew aspect was beyond his control, remarked: "How can one control nature?"

To work around the problem, ground authorities will use the ASFA spray on the turf. Ropes will be put into use in order to rid the dew. All this will require the services of 14 men, it is learnt. With the ball expected to get soggy, no team would like to bowl under lights.

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team arrived for their practice session late on Monday evening while the West Indians trained in the morning. India and West Indies have clashed in a T20 international at Eden Gardens only once before - in November 2018 - when India won by five wickets. The visitors were restricted to 109-8 before India secured an easy win with Dinesh Karthik (31 not out) and Krunal Pandya (21 not out) seeing the side home in the 18th over.
