This is the first meeting between the two leaders since Biden assumed office in January as President. During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the comprehensive global strategic partnership between the two countries. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Biden while meeting Modi said, 'Relationship between India and US, largest democracies in the world, is destined to be stronger, closer and tighter.'

Modi said US President Joe Biden is taking initiatives to implement his vision for India-US relations. He also thanked Biden for the warm welcome accorded to him and his delegation at the White House.

The meeting between Modi and Biden took place in the backdrop of the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.

Harris is the first-ever person of Indian origin to be elected as the vice-president of the United States. During his meeting with Harris, PM Modi reiterated the importance of strategic and cultural ties between the two countries.

On September 25, PM Modi will deliver a video address at the event 'Global Citizen Live'. It is a global advocacy organisation that is working to end extreme poverty. The event will be broadcast in 120 countries and over multiple social media channels.
