The Indian Navy is further strengthening relief efforts by preparing INS Gharial with an estimated 440 tonnes of essential supplies, including rice, edible oil, and medicines. India remains committed as a first responder in the region, ensuring timely humanitarian assistance to Myanmar.

On Tuesday, India despatched more than 400 tonnes of relief materials aboard a warship for Myanmar, which was severely affected by the recent earthquake. Indian search and rescue teams have been deployed in some of the worst-affected areas to locate survivors and provide assistance.

Operation Brahma, launched by the Indian government, is shaping up to be the largest foreign aid initiative for Myanmar following the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake. The earthquake, which struck on Friday, has resulted in over 2,000 deaths and left nearly 4,000 people injured.
A field hospital staffed by medical experts from the Indian Army is now operational at Mandalay’s old airport, the hardest-hit region. The Indian Army’s medical team is providing critical healthcare services to those affected by the disaster.
An 80-member search and rescue team from India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is actively working at over a dozen locations in Mandalay. The NDRF team is meticulously combing through rubble to locate and rescue trapped survivors.
Indian warships delivered an additional 30 tonnes of aid on Tuesday, which included food, medical supplies, and temporary shelters. Myanmar authorities formally received the relief materials handed over by the Indian Navy.
The Indian government’s rapid response highlights its strong commitment to regional humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. Operation Brahma is a coordinated effort involving the Indian Navy, Army, and disaster response teams to maximise aid efficiency.
Indian defence forces continue to collaborate closely with Myanmar’s authorities to ensure effective distribution of relief materials. The operation underscores India’s role as a dependable and swift responder in times of regional crises.

India’s aid mission is expected to continue, with additional relief supplies being prepared for further dispatch.
