A local journalist claimed the IDF had phoned a doctor, giving only 20 minutes to evacuate. Dozens of displaced civilians sheltering in the hospital courtyard also fled the area.
Al-Ahli is now the only functioning hospital left in Gaza City after the destruction of Al-Shifa and other northern facilities. The Hamas-run media office called the strike a “horrific crime” against patients and healthcare workers.
The hospital had previously been hit in October 2023, an attack that killed hundreds. At the time, Palestinians blamed Israel, while Israel said a failed rocket by Islamic Jihad caused the explosion.

The ongoing war has claimed over 50,933 lives in Gaza, with 1,563 deaths since 18 March, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
