Men having sex with men is not only a 'disease' but also 'unnatural', said 'Health Minister' Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Naturally (pun unintended), activists and non-activists alike took to Twitter and Facebook to denounce his statement.

Someone using the handle DeliriousPixie commented: 'Homosexuals are a disease, while rapists and murderers get away easy? Well done, India.

Well done, Azad.' A certain Pradyut asked: 'I woke up this morning and felt like cracking cool Ghulam Nabi Azad jokes.

Is that unnatural?' Anna MM Vetticad added: 'Guys like him are doing a better job of bringing down the Congress than Opposition parties.' I hope the honourable minister considers a Twitter account.

The son also rises
Another politician trending again, for the wrong reasons was Minister of Corporate Affairs Murli Deora, who offered to resign ahead of a possible Cabinet reshuffle. He reportedly told Sonia Gandhi he was too old to continue, while some alleged he wanted his son to take his place instead.

Vikram Sathaye pointed out that this made him 'the first politician in India to retire because he is old!' Deep Majumdar added: 'It makes sense because, after the oil ministry, this is dry.'

So much for one nation
Telangana continued to get a lot of people hot and bothered after more ministers resigned and a 48-hour state-wide bandh was called for. Vijay Kumar Penala tweeted: 'People who have been campaigning for Telangana should first question their leaders about their contribution to the region.'

Pavan Misra had a pertinent question: 'Telangana? Gorkhaland? Whatever happened to united India?' And there were some like Kamesh, who said, 'Wish my office was in Andhra Pradesh. I would get more leave.' It takes all kinds to make a world.

The last word

I quote actor Ranvir Shorey: 'So much wealth, just hijacked by religion and politics, when it can help so many. Including me.'
