A man from Beed district in Maharashtra, accused of hunting a deer has reportedly got threat in name of Lawrence Bishnoi following which the cops has launched a probe in the matter, the officials said, reported the PTI.
According to the police, the cops have begun a probe after local BJP functionary Satish Bhosale was reportedly issued a threat in the name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi from a social media account, which an official on Sunday said may be fake, as per the PTI.
Satish Bhosale, also known as 'Khokya', is accused of hunting deer and the threat issued from the Facebook account was in this connection, the official added, the news agency reported on Sunday.
The social media account holder, while invoking the name of Lawrence Bishnoi, has sought the arrest of Satish Bhosale for hunting deer.

"Deer is our God. Khokya does not deserve forgiveness," the message said.
"The social media account may be fake. We have written to the social media firm to provide details about it. No FIR has been lodged so far," the Beed police station official added, according to the PTI.
The forest department is probing allegations of Satish Bhosale being a poacher, and has conducted searches in several places in Shirur taluka.
Meanwhile, speaking at an event in Navi Mumbai on Saturday, Maharashtra forest minister Ganesh Naik said that the allegations of deer poaching and trade in its meat in Beed district of Maharashtra will be probed thoroughly.
The minister said he had learnt about the allegations from the media and had directed forest department officials to conduct an inquiry.
"The guilty will not be spared," Ganesh Naik told reporters on Saturday.
Meanwhile, five poachers were recently arrested in Jalgaon district by the Maharashtra forest department for selling bushmeat of peacock and wild boar, reproductive organs of a monitor lizard and the skin of a golden jackal.
The seized meat will be sent to the wildlife forensic lab at Gorewada, Nagpur for further analysis.
The operation was made possible through the mobile tower location of the prime accused, provided by Jalgaon police officials, and the efforts of Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) of Jalgaon, Praveen Angusamy, along with his team.
On February 28, at 9.30 pm, range forest officer (RFO), Patnadevi Range informed RFO Chalisgaon about a tip-off from Honorary Wildlife Warden Rajesh Thombre regarding poachers moving through Autramghat, Gautala Wildlife Sanctuary. The information was shared with Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Mohan Naikwadi and Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF) Dr V Clement Ben, who then formed a team to act on the intelligence.
