After successfully concluding the G20 summit in Rio, Brazil, PM Modi arrived in Guyana for a historic visit at the invitation of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in 56 years. Upon arrival in Georgetown, PM Modi was warmly welcomed with a hug by President Ali, along with four Guyanese ministers, the PMs of Grenada and Barbados. The leaders will discuss strengthening ties based on shared heritage and values. PM Modi will also honor the Indian diaspora, who have been in Guyana for over 185 years. During his two-day visit, he will hold talks with President Ali, address Guyana`s parliament, and participate in the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit. PM Modi was presented with the ‘Key to the city’ and enjoyed local cultural performances. Watch video for more.
