In view of the downpour, the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner Jagadish G ordered the closure of schools and Anganwadi centres on Monday

This is the second time within a week that schools are being shut owing to rains in Bengaluru

People waded through the flooded roads to reach their destination

The Indian Meteorology Department has sounded orange alert in Bengaluru for today. An orange alert means very heavy rain of 11 cm to 20 cm

In a bulletin, it said, "Moderate to heavy Rain/thundershowers accompanied by lightning is likely to occur at isolated places over Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural districts"

The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for 11 districts in Karnataka. The districts of Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Chitradurga, Davangere, and Tumakuru are under a yellow alert till October 21 due to the forecast of heavy rainfall
