On Monday, Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati, 13th direct descendant of Ch Shivaji Maharaj, participated in Shivjayanti celebrations at Delhi's Maharashtra Sadan

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's birth anniversary is also known as Shivjayanti.

Former Rajya Sabha MP offered floral tributes to the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the Sadan. 

A dhol-tasha group played the traditional percussion instruments at the event held to commemorate the Maratha King's birth anniversary. 

Women were seen playing 'lezim' or 'lezium'--a folk dance from Maharashtra named after the small musical instrument with jingling cymbals called Lezim. 

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, born 1630 in Junnar tehsil, was a warrior king and founded the Maratha empire. 

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is considered to be one of the greatest warriors in Indian history.

This year marks the 394th birth anniversary of the revered Maratha king.
