Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary is celebrated nationwide as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day on October 31, honouring his efforts to unify India.
After paying tribute, PM Modi administered a Unity Oath and attended the Unity Day Parade at Kevadia’s Parade Ground.
The parade featured 16 contingents from nine states and one union territory, including performances by Central Armed Police Forces, NCC, and school marching bands.
Highlights included the NSG’s Hell March, daredevil stunts by BSF and CRPF bikers, a martial arts show by the BSF, and an Indian Air Force flypast by ‘Surya Kiran’.
PM Modi stated that Sardar Patel’s dedication to India’s unity and sovereignty continues to inspire future generations.
Born in 1875, Sardar Patel is celebrated for uniting 562 princely states, laying the foundation for modern India. He served as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
Since 2014, Patel’s birth anniversary has been commemorated with ‘Run for Unity’ events across India, involving citizens from diverse backgrounds to promote national unity.
