During his two-hour visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Prime Minister Modi interacted with 'Van Durga', a team of women forest guards leading conservation efforts, as well as elephant mahouts and forest officials.

The prime minister shared his observations on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the diverse wildlife of Kaziranga, known for its rhinos and large elephant population.

Modi commenced his wildlife adventure with an elephant safari, riding on an elephant named 'Pradyumna' through the Mihimukh area of the central Kohora range.

Accompanied by a convoy of 16 elephants, Modi fed sugarcane to three elephants - Lakhimai, Pradyumna, and Phoolmai - during his safari journey.

Following the elephant safari, Prime Minister Modi embarked on a jeep safari in the same forest range, stopping at the Daflang Watch Tower to witness the sanctuary's panoramic views.

During his safari adventures, PM Modi encountered various wildlife species, including one-horned rhinoceroses, wild buffaloes, deer, and a fleeting glimpse of a tiger.

Prime Minister Modi captured the beauty of Kaziranga through photography, taking several pictures of the forest and wildlife during his tour.

Modi interacted with Kaziranga National Park Director Sonali Ghosh and commended the dedication and courage of 'Van Durga'.

The prime minister's visit prompted the temporary closure of safari activities in the central Kohora range for security arrangements, with regular tourist operations set to resume on March 10.

In addition to his wildlife adventure, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the 'Statue of Valour' honouring Ahom general Lachit Barphukan and inaugurated various developmental projects in Assam during his two-day visit to the state.
