Gadkari, accompanied by Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and state BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule, prepared to file his nomination after offering prayers at his residence.

The presence of political leaders like Devendra Fadnavis and Chandrashekhar Bawankule, along with NCP leader Praful Patel symbolised the cross-party support among the Mahayuti allies.

Gadkari's wife, Kanchan Gadkari, applied 'Vijay Tilak' to him and other party leaders, symbolising auspiciousness and victory, a customary practice before embarking to complete important tasks.

Expressing confidence in victory, Gadkari projected a substantial win margin of over 5 lakh votes, attributing his success to the support of the electorate and his commitment to public service.

Gadkari acknowledged the contributions of party workers and the public to his political journey and said they played a pivotal role in his accomplishments as a minister and representative.

Promising further development initiatives, Gadkari highlighted his track record of infrastructure projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore in Nagpur. He pledged to elevate the city to global standards.

Asserting the importance of grassroots engagement, Gadkari said that he told his sons that the party workers have rights over his political legacy and if they wanted to join politics, they'd have to start from the grassroot level.

The Bharatiya Janata Party's decided to field Gadkari from the Nagpur seat for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 which will be held in seven phases across India. In Maharashtra, the elections are scheduled in five phases, beginning on April 19.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had won 23 out of 25 contested seats and this year, the BJP which is in alliance with Shinde faction of Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's faction of NCP has claimed they want to win over 45 seats in Maharashtra and above 400 nationwide.
