Tomorrow will marks the 76th anniversary of Maharashtra State Transport (ST), commemorating the inaugural journey of the first ST bus on the Pune-Ahmednagar route back in 1948.

In honor of this milestone, June 1st is annually celebrated as ST's anniversary, with festivities planned across all bus stations.

Tomorrow, at all bus stations of ST, passengers and all staff members will be distributed sugar canes as the MSRTC will complete 76 years of service, said an official release.

On the occasion of the anniversary, all the bus stations will be decorated by drawing rangolis and tying flower and leaf pylons.

"For over seven decades, ST has been steadfast in its mission to provide safe and affordable transportation services to the people of Maharashtra. Despite challenges ranging from adverse weather conditions to financial constraints, ST's 87 thousand employees remain dedicated to serving communities across the state" said an official release by MSRTC on Friday.

From its humble beginnings with 36 Bedford buses, ST's fleet has expanded to 15 thousand buses, facilitating the daily transportation of an average of 55 lakh passengers from over 560 bus stations.

The government extends discounts ranging from 33 percent to 100 percent to various social groups, including senior citizens, women, and the disabled, furthering ST's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.

ST also offers special trips for festivals like Ganesh Utsav and Diwali, as well as catering to school trips and government events.
