Amid ongoing opposition uproar over the suspension of MPs and demands for discussions regarding the Parliament security breach and a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah, opposition MPs continued their protests during the Question Hour.

After the Question Hour, Speaker Om Birla addressed the protesting members, highlighting his reluctance to suspend MPs without valid reasons and expressing disapproval of actions such as tearing and throwing papers in the House.

The Speaker raised concerns about the display of placards within the House premises, emphasizing the inappropriateness of such actions, indicating his unwillingness to resort to suspensions despite pressure.

Following the suspension of two additional opposition members for displaying placards, the total number of suspended MPs in the Lok Sabha rose to 97. This escalation in suspensions brings the total count across both Houses to 143 since December 14.

The disruption in House proceedings stems from the recent security breach on December 13 when two individuals breached security and released smoke canisters within the Lok Sabha chamber, leading to persistent demands from the opposition for a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah.

The disruptions and protests within Parliament have characterized the Winter Session, marked by opposition demands for clarifications regarding the security breach, contributing to an atmosphere of continued unrest.

As disruptions persist and tensions escalate, the Winter Session of Parliament is set to conclude imminently, scheduled to end on Friday amidst continued challenges in restoring order and conducting meaningful discussions.
