From flying staff to the venue of the wedding to arranging a cruise for the guests, these Indian weddings have been defined by their opulence and elegance. Business magnate Laxmi Mittal, who turns a year older today, also hosted a grand wedding reception for his daughter. Here's a look at some weddings which turned out to be a lavish affair

Vanisha Mittal, Laxmi Mittal's daughter married Amit Bhatia in an extravagant function in 2004, that was hosted at France's Palace of Versailles. It is the only private function known to have been hosted at the palace and cost over Rs 350 crores. Celebrities from around the world attended the marriage. Designers Tarun Tahiliani, Suneet Varma and the Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla created the wedding outfits. The wedding itself was held at Vaux le Vicomte estate. There were reportedly 600 guests from around 26 countries who were ferried by chartered jets.
