Maharashtra's Minister for Industries, Uday Samant disclosed on Friday that the nation's most substantial diamond hub is on the horizon in Navi Mumbai, set to be established by the following year, with an accompanying policy in place, PTI reported. This revelation was made during his conversation with journalists in Yavatmal district, situated in the Vidarbha region, following a comprehensive review meeting.

Samant was quoted in the report as saying, "The country's inaugural diamond hub is in the works for Navi Mumbai. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) and the corresponding policy are both prepared. Within the upcoming year, we anticipate the grand inauguration of the country's most extensive diamond hub, right here in Navi Mumbai."
This statement came in response to an inquiry concerning Maharashtra Congress Chief Nana Patole's assertion that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Maharashtra aimed at persuading several industries, including the diamond sector, to relocate to the neighbouring state of Gujarat, stated the PTI report.

Samant additionally stated that it was after the government change in Maharashtra that industrialists showed confidence in the administration.
Samant told PTI, "Over the past three years, Karnataka and Gujarat have claimed the leading positions within the industrial landscape. However, following the change in government within the state, industrialists gained confidence in this administration's unwavering support. For the last eighteen months, Maharashtra has been at the forefront regarding foreign direct investment, a revelation derived from the SBI's quarterly survey."
According to agency reports, the development of the diamond cluster in the city will be likely monitored closely by the stakeholders in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
