Primaryu00a0school children studying in municipal schools can grab an extra hour of sleep this chilly weather, thanks to the civic body's decision to start school an hour late from today. The schools will start at 8 am instead of 7 am because of the cold weather.
The Maharashtra Navanirman Vidhyarthi Sena (MNVS) had approached the education department and private schools some three days ago requesting them to start schools late because of the cold weather and fog in the city. Prashant Kanojia, president of MNVS, said the decision would come as relief to both parents and children.
PMC Education Officer Jadhav said: "We have decided to extend the timings for the next 15 days. After that we will look at the temperature and take a further call. The timings are only for the primary section and not secondary." The cold wave in the city is expected to continue for another three days. The MET department said that it is expecting the minimum temperature to go downs to 8-9 Celsius.u00a0u00a0u00a0
