Well-wishers and dignitaries flocked to NCPA lawns to pay their last respects to veteran industrialist Ratan Tata who breathed his last on Wednesday night.

The Maharashtra government has declared one day of mourning in respect of veteran industrialist Ratan Tata who passed away on October 9

Ratan Tata's half-sister Simone and other family members of the late industrialist at NCPA

Ratan Tata loved dogs and stray animals and took constant efforts to care for them. His pet dog was also among those who paid their tributes to the veteran industrialist 

Apart from the Tata family, the funeral was attended by tall leaders from the political arena such as Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule, and Praful Patel who went to pay their last respects to one of India's beloved philanthropists

Uddhav Thackeray was accompanied by son and Worli legislator Aaditya Thackeray. Speaking about Ratan Tata, Aaditya said, "With the passing away of Ratan Tata sir, not just India, but humanity has lost a compassionate leader. (He was) A business tycoon who also excelled at philanthropy"

MNS president Raj Thackeray on Thursday fondly remembered that he and industrialist Ratan Tata shared a common thread of their love for canines and said stray dogs were welcomed in all Tata premises, be it the Taj Mahal hotel or group headquarters.

Businessman Kumaramangalam Birla and Tata's close aide Suhel Seth were also spotted at the NCPA lawns amid the crowd of well-wishers who came to pay their tributes
