Historically, Mumbai's voter turnout has remained low in consecutive elections
The Election Commission, along with central and state governments and local bodies, has launched various initiatives to improve voter turnout in Mumbai for the upcoming assembly elections
Some of the initiatives include rationalisation of polling stations, the establishment of facilities within residential societies, and the provision of assured minimum facilities at voting booths
On Saturday, students were also roped in the voter awareness programme. The students held placards and sang songs related to election
Students have been encouraged to hand out 'Sankalp Patra (pledge forms)' to their parents, urging them to vote
