Fadnavis highlighted that the project was close to Ratan Tata’s heart and recalled discussions about resolving issues to bring the hotel to life. He stated that Taj Bandstand would not just be a hotel but a symbol of Mumbai’s pride and progress.
Fadnavis also mentioned that Mumbai has regained its position as India’s convention capital and will benefit from the new development. The project will include landscaped gardens, recreational spaces, and entertainment zones, reflecting the city’s rich cultural heritage.
IHCL, which operates the Taj brand, is spearheading the project and sees it as a tribute to Mumbai’s spirit and global prominence. Puneet Chatwal stated that Taj Bandstand would be a defining structure in Mumbai’s skyline and uphold the legacy of the Taj brand.
The new hotel is part of IHCL’s expansion in Mumbai, where it currently operates 17 hotels, including five under development. IHCL has received key pre-construction approvals, including the Intimation of Disapproval (IOD) and a provisional Fire NOC.
Construction of Taj Bandstand is expected to commence in 2025 and will take approximately four years to complete. The project is envisioned to become a landmark, further cementing Mumbai’s status as a global city.
Taj Bandstand will contribute to Mumbai’s luxury hospitality sector, bringing new opportunities in tourism, business, and events. The development reinforces IHCL’s commitment to Mumbai, where the company opened its first hotel, The Taj Mahal Palace, in 1903.
