With the approaching elections, Mumbai braces for intense political contests across its six parliamentary constituencies.

Among these, three constituencies will witness fierce battles between factions of the Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray, while two others will see traditional rivals, the BJP and Congress, competing head-to-head.

Mumbai city is home to approximately 24.59 lakh voters, while the suburbs boast a significant electorate of 74 lakh registered voters this year. This substantial voter base reflects the importance of Mumbai in shaping the electoral landscape of Maharashtra.

The elections are divided into phases, with the fifth and final phase scheduled for May 20, covering 13 constituencies across the state. In the fourth phase on May 13, 11 seats, including Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Pune, and others, will witness voting by a total of 2.28 crore voters.

Several notable candidates are contesting in the upcoming phases, adding further significance to the electoral process. Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve in Jalna and BJP's Pankaja Munde in Beed are among the prominent figures in the fourth phase.

In the fifth phase, attention will be on candidates like Union Minister Piyush Goyal, renowned lawyer Ujjwal Nikam, and Mumbai Congress president Varsha Gaikwad. Their presence underscores the high stakes involved in these elections.

The constituencies in the fifth phase cover a wide geographical area, including North Maharashtra (Dhule, Dindori, Nashik), Palghar, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Thane, and various parts of Mumbai.
