Veteran industrialist and Tata Group's chairman emeritus, Ratan Tata, passed away at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, on Wednesday night.

Tata had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for a few days due to age-related medical issues before he passed away at 11:30 pm on Wednesday.

Tata Group expressed comfort in the love and respect shown by those who admired him, noting that his legacy of humility and purpose would continue to inspire future generations.

Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran described Tata as a mentor, guide, and friend, whose contributions shaped not only the Tata Group but also the fabric of the nation.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his sorrow over Tata's death, calling him a visionary business leader and a compassionate human being who made significant contributions to India's development.
