Mumbai sees 356 new Covid-19 cases, 5 deaths; TPR at 1.19 per cent

Daily cases in the city continued to dip and fell below 400 on Monday. The test positivity rate too saw a drop. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, there were 356 cases and five deaths, and TPR stood at 1.19 per cent, the lowest this year.

In the third wave, the highest TPR recorded in Mumbai was 29.9 per cent on January 6. On February 1, for the first time this year, the TPR had fallen below 2 and was at 1.55 per cent.

Four of the deceased patients had comorbidities. While one was in the age group of 40-59, the remaining were aged above 60 years.

Around 88 per cent of the new patients were asymptomatic and 40 people were hospitalised, 10 of them in oxygen beds.

The recovery rate remained constant at 98 per cent as 949 patients were discharged. The doubling rate improved to 760 days.

The state also saw a significant drop in the number of cases on Monday at 6,436. A total of 24 deaths were reported across the state. The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 1.83 per cent. A total of 18,423 people were discharged and active cases were at 1,06,059 on Monday.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region registered 730 infections. Thane Municipal Corporation and Navi Mumbai reported 61 and 70 cases, respectively - the highest in MMR after Mumbai. While Raigad saw 43 cases, Vasai-Virar had 22 cases and Panvel had 54 cases. Other than Mumbai, the MMR saw five deaths including three in Navi Mumbai and one in Thane.
