People over 45 years of age will have to wait further for vaccinations as the BMC hadn't received a stock of vaccines till late evening on Sunday. The BMC had stopped the vaccination programme for three days till May 2 due to the non-availability of vaccines. But on Sunday, it declared that there will be no vaccination for Mumbaikars 45 and above even on May 3. Slots for vaccination of limited people were to open after 7.30 pm on Sunday for the 18-44 years old for Monday. At least 2,438 people received the vaccine on Sunday.

At least 93 doses given on Saturday were counted in Sunday's tally.

After increasing the number of vaccine centres and the capacity of administered vaccines up to 70,000, now the municipal corporation is helpless due to the non-availability of new stock of vaccines. While the corporation started vaccinations for those from 18 to 44 years from May 1, only 3,419 people received the first dose of vaccines till May 2 from the 90 lakh beneficiaries in the age group. "The vaccination was carried out in five centres - Nair, BKC, Rajawadi, Cooper and Seven Hills. We haven't received any new stock of vaccines and don't know when and how much stock we will get. So the vaccination won't be carried out on Monday," said an official from the BMC.

On Monday, those between 18-44 years will receive the jab only at the five civic-run centres. Until now, 19.63 lakh people have received the vaccine, out of them, 4.90 lakh have received the second dose.
