Assistant Municipal Commissioner of the BMC's R-south ward, Sandhya Nandekar said, "The ground plus one house was an illegal structure. Our contractor was carrying out road and drainage works during which the house collapsed."
She adds, "We are going to blacklist the contractor and file a complaint against him with the police. As per the information received by us, the house had no base or foundation, and hence it collapsed. We have stopped the work for now, and nearby houses have been vacated."
