Goregaon fire: In a tragic incident, a massive fire that engulfed Jay Bhavani SRA building, located near Azad Maidan in Unnat Nagar, off M G Road, Goregaon (West) as many as 69 people have been undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the city.
The incident was reported in the early hours of October 6, at 03:05 am. The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) swiftly responded to the emergency, battling the blaze at Level II.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced an assistance of Rs 50,000 for every family living in a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) building which caught fire two days back.
The latest update by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on October 8 at 12:25 pm, provides a grim picture of the casualties and injuries resulting from the devastating fire.

Injuries Reported at HBT Hospital:
Total Injured: 43
Deceased: 6 (1 Male + 5 Female)
Injured: 15 (5 Male + 10 Female) Admitted
Discharged: 9
Discharged Against Medical Advice (DAMA): 8
Patients Transferred to Different Hospitals:
Kasturba Hospital: 3 patients transferred from HBT Trauma Care Hospital, all admitted.
Seven Hill Hospital: 1 patient transferred from HBT Trauma Care Hospital, admitted to the ICU ward.
Cooper Hospital: 16 injured reported (including 1 patient from HBT Trauma Care Hospital)
Deceased: 1 Female
Injured: 9 (5 Male + 4 Female) Admitted
Discharged: 2
DAMA: 4 (2 Male, 2 Female)
Private Hospitals:
Life Line Medical Hospital: 1 injured reported, admitted in the ICU ward.
Matoshree Gomati Hospital, Goregaon: 9 injured reported
Injured: 9 (Admitted - 7, Discharged - 2)
Suvidha Hospital, Goregaon: 1 injured reported, admitted and in stable condition.
The total count of injured individuals stands at 69, with 7 unfortunate casualties, 37 admitted for treatment, 12 discharged against medical advice, and 13 discharged after recovery.
Residents of the building, located in Mumbai's Goregaon area, met CM Shinde on Saturday.
CM Shinde announced an assistance of Rs 50,000 for every family living in the building, an official statement said.
He also directed officials that SRA buildings should have iron stairs as emergency exit.
The medical expenses of the injured persons seeking treatment in private hospitals will be paid by the Chief Minister Medical Assistance Cell, the statement said.
CM Shinde also directed officials to conduct structural and fire audits of the building, and give it a facelift.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation commissioner directed officials to start water supply to the building immediately.
Some reports earlier said the building had no water supply.
On Friday, CM Shinde announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of each of the deceased.
