Covid-19: Mumbai’s new cases fall below 500 once again

After seeing a significant rise in new COVID-19 cases and test positivity rate, it was a welcome relief for the country's financial capital, as the TPR saw a significant drop along with new cases fall below the 500 mark on Thursday. But the COVID-19 fatalities saw a rise on Thursday.

As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 458 new cases were reported on Thursday along with seven deaths. The TPR was 1.15 per cent.

The doubling rate dipped and was at 1,151 days on Thursday. While six of the deceased had comorbidities, three of the deceased were in the age group 40 years to 60 years, other four were in the age above 60 years.

The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 414 people recovered and were discharged on Thursday.

The state's COVID-19 cases also saw a drop on Thursday but the number continued to remain above 3,000. As per the state health department report, 3,063 cases were reported. The state's COVID-19 fatalities, however, saw a rise as 56 deaths were reported.

The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 3,198 people recovered and got discharged on Thursday. Currently the state has 36,484 active cases.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal dip in new cases on Thursday. As per the state report, 913 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai.

Apart from Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli reported maximum number of daily cases in MMR with 75 cases. It was followed by Raigad with 72 cases. While Navi Mumbai saw 57 cases, Thane had 46 cases and Mira-Bhayandar witnessed 22 cases. Vasai-Virar had 53 cases and Panvel 54 cases. MMR, excluding Mumbai, recorded four deaths on Thursday. Kalyan-Dombivli, Thane Municipal Corporation and Panvel reported one death each.
