The action was initiated after the 15-year-old victim's mother lodged a complaint against the accused, who was later identified as Nitin Agarwal. An employee of a private firm, officials said Agarwal owns a 3-BHK flat at Thakur Village Junction in Kandivli and a car.
The victim in her statement told the cops that the accused approached her while she was on her way to school on Thursday morning. She said Agarwal was in the driver's seat and accosted her on the pretext of asking for an address. The girl sat in the car when Agarwal offered her a lift saying that even he was going in the direction of her school.
The girl said Agarwal started touching her inappropriately and refused to stop the car. He finally halted the vehicle and fled the spot as soon as the victim got out.
Based on the compliant filed by the victim's mother, officials laid a trap for the accused at the same spot around 7 am yesterday and nabbed him while he was trying to intercept another schoolgirl.
"We have arrested the accused on charges of molestation under Section 354 of the IPC," said LG Shinde from the Samta Nagar police station. u00a0Another official said the victim had identified the accused and investigation is on to find out whether Agarwal has molested other girls. u00a0
