10-year-old girl drowns in Vasai resort's swimming pool

A 10-year-old child drowned in the swimming pool of a resort in Vasai, Palghar district, a police officer revealed on Thursday. According to an official at the Vasai police station, the event occurred in Rangaon on Wednesday morning, reported PTI.

The girl, Ridhi Mane, had moved from the children's pool to the deeper one designated for adults while her mother went to get dinner. When the mother returned, she spotted her daughter in trouble and alerted the alarm. Despite efforts, the doctor pronounced the kid dead, the report added.

Authorities have filed a report of accidental death and are conducting additional investigations into the occurrence.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, a 23-year-old graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur reportedly took his own life in his flat in Mahim, Mumbai, according to a police official on Thursday. Rohan Kumar Jha, who held an MBA degree, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the kitchen of his flat near Sithladevi Temple on Wednesday evening.

Originally from Patna, Bihar, Jha was employed in an insurance firm with a good salary. Upon receiving the alert, the police arrived at the scene and rushed him to Sion Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, another PTI report stated.

According to the report, an investigation into Jha's death is currently underway, with authorities speaking to his friends and relatives. No suicide note has been found, and the body has been handed over to his family, stated the official from Mahim police station.
