A 19-year-old woman was murdered by her friends during a rooftop party at Bhagwati Heights in Khar on New Year's eve on Thursday.
According to sources, the deceased, identified as Jhanavi Kukreja, saw a couple in a compromising position. An argument ensued between the couple and Jhanavi and it escalated.
The victim's close friends said that she was brutally beaten up by the couple, who allegedly grabbed her by her hair and pulled her down to the second floor.

Initially, the police said that she fell down from the terrace during an argument with the accused couple - Shree Jogdhankar (22) and Diya Padankar (19).
However, according to police, further investigation revealed that she was pulled by her hair from the terrace to the second floor. The police officers also found blood stains on the staircase and her body was taken to Bhabha Hospital.

The Khar police registered a case under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Diya and Shree.
Senior police officers, including Joint commissioner (law and order) Vishwas Nangre Patil, Additional Commissioner (West Region) Sandeep Karnik and DCP (Zone 09) Abhishek Trimukhe, reached the Khar police station and are interrogating all the suspects who were present at the party.
