The Marine Drive police arrested the husband of a police constable on Thursday for allegedly sending her nude pictures to her friend and some relatives. The police registered an FIR as per sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman), 509 (insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC and section 67 of the IT Act.
The 27-year-old constable got married a few years ago to 31-year-old from Pune. After marriage, they had a child whose is now five years old. They separated a year ago. The constable lives in the MMR while her husband lives in Pune.
The cop said when they were together, her husband, who is now jobless, would call her several times and ask her to send him nude photos, but she refused. When he continued to pressure her, she sent him two-three such pictures. She added that she had asked him to delete the photos, but he did not.
According to the constable's complaint, recently one of her female friends called her and told her that her husband had sent the nude pictures to her. The constable then lodged an FIR against her husband on Thursday at the Marine Drive police station.
The man has been sent to judicial custody. The police told the court that the constable's husband was always suspicious of her, due to which they used to fight. The police told the court that the woman had a relationship with another man before she got married, and it had ended. She had told her husband about it. But her husband continued to be suspicious about her.
A police officer told the court, "In order to defame her, her husband sent her nude photos to her friend and some relatives. The intention was to show she is not of a good character."
A police officer told mid-day, "We have arrested her husband and are investigating further."
