If you're looking for vegan fare or are craving a healthy sweet fix, Bandra has plenty of options to leave you spoilt for choice. So, when we heard about the launch of another vegan gluten-free café in the suburb, we were eager to see what this one did differently. The café in question is Raveena Taurani's Yogisattva and, if the name rings a bell, it's because it started out as a retail store-cum-delivery kitchen in 2018.
Fala-fill
The café's rooftop location and open-air layout are reassuring given the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in the city. The functional decor, however, makes this an eatery we'd grab a quick bite at rather than head to for a celebratory occasion. We began our repast with Don't mezze with me (Rs 410), a vegan cheese platter, Avo-nice-day (Rs 420), an avocado carpaccio, and It's nacho business (Rs 349), a smoked paprika nacho cheese dip served with brown rice and almond crackers. Of these, the dip and cheese platters were light and flavourful. The avocado, however, didn't warrant a second order, as was the case with Berry special (Rs 350), a strawberry lemonade. The space was very clean, and our server was attentive and friendly.
Wrap battle
For mains, we had the Wrap battle (Rs 410), a stuffed chickpea wrap, the Fala-fill (Rs 381) Lebanese bowl and I've âgut' power (Rs 381), which is a kimchi fried rice. The portions were generous and the dishes well-balanced. While the Lebanese bowl was a perfect combination of earthy and piquant flavours, the wrap and kimchi rice were satiating but not exceptional. Taurani brought out bowls of black sesame ice cream (Rs 250) and a pistachio baklava (Rs 381) for dessert, both of which had interesting flavours and textures.

In a nutshell, Yogisattva doesn't really deliver the culinary or experiential punch that sets it apart from others of its ilk. However, it does achieve what it set out to do - the food is fresh and wholesome, and the prices reasonable enough to see us returning for encores.
