Gorilla lady Fatou is the oldest of Berlin's zoo and also considered to be the world's oldest female gorilla, as she celebrates her birthday annually on April 13

Gorilla lady Fatou is the oldest of Berlin's zoo and also considered to be the world's oldest female gorilla, as she celebrates her birthday annually on April 13

According to the Guinness World Records website, she was originally found by a sailor in western Africa in 1959, who then brought her to France before using her to pay for his tab at a local tavern

It further states that Fatou was then acquired by French animal trader Madame Lefevre, who sold her to Berlin Zoo where she’s lived ever since. In picture, Fatou discovered her surprise birthday basket, kept by the officials there, on April 11 in her enclosure at the zoo of Berlin

Fatou is known to live separately in her private enclosure, and away from the other gorilla. In picture, Fatou enjoys treats during her 67th birthday celebration in 2024

Fatou, who is a western lowland gorilla, eats an apple of her birthday basket with a "gorilla food surprise" on April 11 in her enclosure at the zoo of Berlin, as she turns 68 this weekend
