As the day starts and ends with music of different genres, on yet another musical morning, Indian contemporary pianist and composer Anirudh Varma took to the stage with his classical quintet to greet attendees on the third day of the 16th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival 2023. Among other sessions at the same time, Sri Lankan writer Shehan Karunatilaka, who is also a 2022 Booker Prize, was in conversation with Nandini Nair about his award-winning book ‘The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida’ and its many different shades including that of the character’s sexuality. It was followed by another engaging session on gender, identity and living as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community in India. Indian filmmaker Onir known for films such as ‘My Brother... Nikhil’ and ‘I Am’, was in conversation in a session 'I am Onir' with Vivek Tejuja about his latest book ‘I am Onir and I am Gay’, co-written with his sister Irene Dhar Mailk.
