Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal was formed in 1934 in Lalbaug by local fishermen.  This is the 91st year of the revered idol.

The Kambli family has been responsible for sculpting the idol since it’s inception. Santosh Kambli, the third-generation sculptor of the family, now carries this responsibility.

Lalbaugcha Raja is also called ‘Navsacha Ganpati’ which refers to the one who grants all wishes. The idol is famous for fulfilling wishes of devotees who come to seek blessings.

2020 was the first and the only year when Lalbaugcha Raja cancelled traditional Ganeshotsav celebrations owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ganeshotsav celebrations at Lalbaugcha Raja begin on Ganesh Chaturthi (September 7 this year) and end with the visarjan at Girgaon Chowpatty on Anant Chaturdashi (September 17 this year).
