The makers of Aladdin hosted a special screening for all the television stars and their kids at a popular multiplex in Andheri, Mumbai. Actor Mena Massoud said in a media interaction that the upcoming live-action adaptation of Aladdin is important with respect to the representation of people of colour in Hollywood. "I don't feel a lot of pressure but a lot of responsibility. I think things are changing with Rami Malek winning an Oscar for doing an incredible job as Freddie Mercury. There are a lot of Middle Eastern actors coming up," actor Mena Massoud said.

"I think this film is important for representation. Hopefully, if it does well in cinema, Hollywood can have confidence in the fact that you can put a Middle Eastern in a lead role or in iconic role and it will still do well," Mena Massoud further added.

He said Princess Jasmine will be empowering women all over the world. "We really focused on making this an empowering role for women all over the world seeing it and Naomi does an incredible job with that," said the actor.

Talking about Aladdin, Will Smith, who plays Ginnie in the movie, is in love with the world of Bollywood and says he asked director Guy Ritchie to add a touch of it in the forthcoming film Aladdin. The actor, who has visited India several times for professional as well as personal reasons, said that he is eager to produce and work in a Bollywood project.

"Aladdin is hot... you are going to love it! I was trying to do my best Bollywood version in this movie and there is a Prince Ali sequence in the film and I kept telling Guy Ritchie you got to go full Bollywood, you have to give them the full flavour," said Will Smith.

Asked about whom would he like to collaborate next in Bollywood, he said, "I have been visiting India, meeting and hanging out. They need to present me something. I don't know what do we want to do, but we should start, we should produce it together."

'Aladdin's' release in China comes after the release of much anticipated Marvel film 'Avengers: Endgame'. The 22nd film in the franchise hit the screens on April 24 in China, two days before its release in the US.

The trailer of another upcoming Disney film titled 'Dumbo' was also aired during the Grammy Awards. Disney is also set to remake other animated classics including 'Mulan', 'The Little Mermaid', 'Snow White' and 'Pinocchio'.

The animated classic 'Aladdin' was directed by John Musker and Ron Clements and premiered in 1992. It earned more than USD 504 million globally.
